KUALA LUMPUR – The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is looking to legendary Liverpool forward Ian Rush to help improve their national team forwards, FAM Deputy President Khairy Jamaluddin confirmed to local media.

We know that our strikers are not doing very well so they should be able learn from him,” Khairy said, referring to a report on Malaysia ’s performance at the under 23 SEA Games held in Thailand last December.

Rush, the record goal scorer for Liverpool and Wales, is scheduled to hold special training clinics in March which will be open to players from the State FAs as well as the national team strikers.

“All the forwards in the national training squad will attend the clinics and we will allow the state teams to send at least one forwards for the stints,” continued Khairy.

“The clinic by Rush is the start of many more such clinics aimed at specific areas in the training programme.”
