KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah created Malaysian football history whey they successfully defended the three titles they had won last season after beating Selangor 3-2 in the Malaysia Cup final at the Bukit Jalil Stadium on Saturday.

The breath-taking Malaysia Cup win follows triumphs in the Super League and FA Cup this season, making for six trophies in two years for the AFC Cup quarter-finalists.

Selangor opened the scoring in the sell-out match on 18 minutes through Frank Seator after the Liberian import made no mistake following a schoolboy mistake by Kedah goalkeeper Mohd Hilmi Eliza Elias.

However, Kedah proved they were equal to the task when they scored two goals in as many minutes around the half hour mark.

Marlon Alex James equalised the scores in the 31st minute before team mate Nelson San Martin made it 2-1 for the Canaries in the very next minute.

This was followed by another goal by Mohd Fadly Baharom five minutes later and Mohd Azraai Khor’s men were in the driver’s seat.

The fight, however, had not been snuffed out of Selangor and Mohd Safee Mohd Salee reduced the deficit in the 77th minute, forcing Kedah to close ranks towards the end to ensure their treble.
